The Lake Elsinore Bass Club, together with National Bass West are actively looking for sponsors and anglers (boaters) to help out with their upcoming Wounded Warrior Fishing Tournament on May 19th at Diamond Valley Lake. This will be the fifth year of the event, which benefits the Wounded Warrior Foundation. There is no entry fee to the tournament, each boater is assigned up to two solidiers, some of them Purple Heart recipients, for a friendly, rewarding bass competition. Immediately following the tournament, a barbeque lunch is served and a big raffle with tons of great prizes is held. Proceeds from the raffle go to the Wounded Warrior Foundation. For more information on the Wounded Warrior Foundation, visit their website warriorfoundation.com. To volunteer for the event as an angler, or to sponsor the event please contact National Bass West at 760.497.8238.

Chip Gilbert has an eventful couple of weeks up at Lake Skinner lately. Just a couple weeks ago Gilbert landed a 13 pound bass up there, less than a pound shy of their 13.9 pound lake record that was caught in 1999 by Scott Arnott. A mixup at the lake's store led to that fish being briefly listed (even published in WON) as a new 15 pound lake record. Chip quickly set the record straight on Facebook, stating his fish was 13 pounds, not 15. On Sunday, Gilbert caught another giant bass (pictured).
Representatives from Lowrance will be conducting a free class focusing on how to use their HDS line of broadband sonar and mapping products at Fish'n Marine Center in Lakeside tomorrow, Saturday April 14th. There will be two classes - at 9 AM and 12 PM with at least 10 HDS units set up for hands on learning and demonstrations. Seats at those units are available on a reservation basis, but they still have room. To reserve a seat, or for more information, give Fish'n Marine a call at 619.443.2100.
