Chip Gilbert breaks Skinner largemouth bass lake record

Freshwater Fishing News

chip-gilbert-skinner-recordChip Gilbert has an eventful couple of weeks up at Lake Skinner lately. Just a couple weeks ago Gilbert landed a 13 pound bass up there, less than a pound shy of their 13.9 pound lake record that was caught in 1999 by Scott Arnott. A mixup at the lake's store led to that fish being briefly listed (even published in WON) as a new 15 pound lake record. Chip quickly set the record straight on Facebook, stating his fish was 13 pounds, not 15. On Sunday, Gilbert caught another giant bass (pictured).

New lake record pending for Lake Perris

Freshwater Fishing News

dan-hoover-perrisrecordbass-tmDan Hoover has reportedly broken the largemouth bass record of at Lake Perris with an 18.2 pound fish (pictured). Perris is a popular recreation lake in Riverside, just north of San Diego County. If the weight of this fish is verified, it'll surpass the existing 17.375 pound lake record largemouth. Perris is known for big bass, and has kicked out a lot of teen bass over the years on swimbaits and other big bait methods.

The catch will fall less than a pound from making the top 25 list of the biggest bass ever caught. If we receive more information about the catch, we'll be sure to update this article.

Thieves targeting boats tied up to courtesy docks

Short Bites

There have been a few instances lately of tackle and equipment being stolen from boats that are left tied to the courtesy docks at the local city lakes. Boaters who leave their boat unattended at the dock while they either get or park their truck are being targeted. Please be on the look out for suspicious people hanging around the launch ramps and report it to lake personnel, and always lock your stuff up while your boat is left unattended.
